Unlike any other destination you’ll find in Britain, delightful Portmeirion, tucked away in the northwest of Wales, was built in the 1920s in the style of an Italian village.

A surrealist setting with landscaped gardens, tinkling fountains and whitewashed arches, it provides a unique backdrop for a New Year to remember.

New Year guests arrive on 30th December and enjoy a warm glass of mulled wine, then venture into the hotel lounges and sit by a roaring log fire as festive afternoon tea is served.

In the evening dine in the Hotel Portmeirion or at Castell Deudraeth brasserie, an informal contemporary-styled restaurant on the estate.

On New Year’s Eve there will be music courtesy of resident harpist, Dylan Rowlands, and traditional pipe music from Ronnie Montgomery before festivities spill onto the dancefloor. Following the welcoming of the New Year, guests will then be escorted to the lawn to enjoy the fireworks with a glass of Portmeirion Champagne or a Penderyn single malt whisky before returning to enjoy the music until the early hours.

A two-night New Year Gala Black Tie stay from 30th December costs £399 per room per night, including dinner on both nights, full Welsh breakfast, New Year entertainment, fireworks and a relaxed check-out on New Year’s Day.
