After sampling an airport parking “Meet and Greet” service, like the one offered by Holiday Extras at a host of UK airports, you’ll find it hard settling for anything less.
Car parking queues and that mad rush with myriad suitcases to try and catch the transfer bus will be things of the past. As Holiday Extras’ website states, “Start your holiday in style”, and that’s what it feels like when you use a “Meet and Greet” service.
I chose Holiday Extras – one of the market leaders who helped over 5.3 million travellers get their holidays off to a great start last year – when travelling from Gatwick to the Azores on a press trip for Wild Travel magazine and Travellowdown.com. I’m glad to say, I was suitably impressed, although there was a slight delay when picking up my car – more about that later.
On arriving at Gatwick’s South Terminal, the car drop-off couldn’t have been simpler or more efficient. The chauffeur was waiting for me. After handing over the keys, I was inside the terminal within seconds. Hassle-free, to say the least.
On my return, I called the Meet and Greet provider after claiming my luggage, as instructed, and proceeded to the pick-up point outside the terminal. There was a slight delay in my car arriving and I had to call to find out how long it would be. Thankfully, the wait wasn’t long and I’m sure this was a one-off hiccup.
Overall, it didn’t affect my opinion on what is a very effective service and one I’d definitely use again.
