With Christmas upon us, relaxing with a sumptuous red wine or, for that matter, a refreshing white is the perfect tipple for the festive period. But, to be honest, delicious wine is welcome any time of year or for any occasion, including seeing in the New Year and taking with you on your next UK break.

Here at Travellowdown, we’re always keen to try different varieties and were suitably impressed by the selection offered by Amazon, all of which come from some of the world’s finest vineyards in South Africa, Chile, France and Australia.

Not only is the taste satisfying, the cost is equally pleasing because by Amazon’s wines fall into the £6-£10 range. Available via the company’s website, purchase options individual bottles or as a pack of six.

We sampled a South African Sauvignon Blanc, South African Chenin Blanc and Chilean Cabernet Sauvignon. But other options include a Shiraz and Chardonnay. Sauvignon Blanc is my favourite grape variety so that was always going to come out on top, as far as I was concerned. Luckily, it didn’t disappoint: it was crisp, zesty with fruit flavours bursting through.

By Amazon‘s wines have been awarded the prestigious Decanter Bronze Award in addition to winning the People’s Choice Award for the Easy Weekday White: Supermarket Own Label category. Such awards demonstrate the outstanding quality of the product.

We were suitably impressed with the wine and will certainly be looking to re-stock very soon.
