The Coniston Inn

Newly acquired by The Inn Collection in 2020, The Coniston Inn – formerly The Waterhead Hotel – is located in a stunning position on the shores of Coniston Water. Although a quieter part of the Lakes, it’s easily reached from the motorway network and offers marvellous walking opportunities.

The inn has been renovated to the usual high standard one associates with the Inn Collection. As well as offering that familiar cosy pub ambience throughout its public spaces, an attractive outside terrace affords guests the chance to make the most of those sunny days while enjoying a coffee or glass of wine.

There are 42 rooms, ranging from singles through to large family rooms, and most enjoy fell or lake views. Downstairs, there is a large restaurant where you can delight in some tasty, Cumbrian cooking.

With a large free car park you can leave your vehicle behind, don walking boots and head for a short stroll into the village or wander down to the attractive lake where you can relax at the Bluebird Café for a bite to eat. Alternatively, jump aboard a boat for a trip on the water: the hop-on-hop-off ferry even makes a very convenient stop at the jetty within the inn’s grounds.

If something a bit more strenuous is your thing, then the Coniston fells, including the Old Man of Coniston and Tarn Hows, are also within easy reach.

This is a superb inn where the usual friendly Inn Collection welcome awaits its guests. We highly recommend it.
