Any time of year is perfect for enjoying L.A Brewery’s many drinks but sipping the company’s Sparkling English Blush in the garden on a gentle summer’s evening is pure heaven. I should know, I’ve tried it!

L.A Brewery offers sustainably brewed non-alcoholic drinks made using a natural fermentation process with innovative blends of tea, plants and flowers. All drinks contain 100% natural ingredients and sold in 100% recycled packaging.

The company was founded by Louise Avery whose love of flavour, foraging and fermentation saw her seeking a more delicious and healthy drink which activates the palate. Clearly, she achieved her goal, resulting in five offerings, including a kombucha range:

Sparkling English Rose (750ml, £10)

White rose petals and elderflower with a delicately dry finish.

Sparkling English Blush (750ml, £10)

Summer’s seasonal flowers with a gentle hint of rhubarb.

Ginger (330ml, £35 for case of 12)

Zingy ginger with a citrus kick.

Strawberry & Rhubarb (330ml, £35 for case of 12))

Refreshingly fruity.

Citrus Hops (330ml, £35 for case of 12)

Hoppy with notes of lime, tropical fruits and flowers.

All drinks – which are produced at the company’s micro-brewery in Suffolk – are low in calories, suitable for vegans, high in friendly bacteria and gluten-free.

Intrigued to learn more about the company, which was launched in 2017, and its founder., I checked out the brewery’s website. It seems that the fermentation process begins with a blend of green and black teas before an infusion of fruits, flowers and botanicals.

The website also contains a note from Louise, who explains: “I fell in love with fermentation around ten years ago after moving to the Hebrides for a change of scene from London. I was actually born and raised there by my mother who was a keen forager, so I went back to reconnect and find my next path. This is when I discovered kombucha and all the infinite possibilities of fermenting different types of tea leaves and blending it with flowers.”

When Louise eventually returned to London, she began making home-brewed drinks for friends before supplying limited edition kombucha drinks to local restaurants. Soon after, L.A Brewery was born and has since become a great success.

You can order drinks direct from the brewery or buy bottles from various retailers, including Planet Organic, Amazon and Selfridges.

Here at Travellowdown, we enjoyed sampling these delicious, refreshing drinks and would highly recommend them. Not only are they perfect for enjoying at home but they should be among the first products on your “to take away with us” list when preparing for a well-earned UK self-catering break.
