If you want an open-top bus ride you’ll remember for the rest of your life, jump aboard the Exmoor Coaster.

Running from the harbour town of Watchet to picturesque Lynmouth, via Minehead and Porlock, you’ll be treated to some of the best coastal views around as you arrive at the top of Porlock Hill and head across the roof of Exmoor.

Tickets (£12 for the first passenger, £6 for any additional passengers in the party) last all day so it’s a very useful hop-on, hop-off service for tourists and locals alike. For example, why not wander around Minehead before catching the next bus to Porlock. Then, when you’ve explored the village, carry on to Lynmouth. It’s an ultra-flexible service which is running throughout Summer 2021.

Many passengers head all the way to Lynmouth but keen walkers, like me, can use the service to enjoy the myriad walking routes on offer. For example, alight the bus at Country Gate (many walking routes start from this point) or – as I did – get off at Countisbury and walk back (or part of the way) along the South West Coastpath. You’ll be treated to many fine views as these pictures show.
